PaintShop pro 7.0 Tutorial
Layers - How it works?
Layer palette is very useful when you
make graphics. It is like a shelf. You can arrange different images in
different layers like you do in shelf. It will help you to make changes
in image at any time. When you desire to change some portions of image
or need to correct it, you need not to redo whole thing again, but Layers
gives you advantage to change the particular portion without any trouble.
Ok so Open paintshop pro 7.0 You will see Layer palette
(See pic 3).
If you don't see layer palette on your screen. Right click on Tool palette
then click on Layer palette to open it.

Now open the new image with these settings with white background.
On menu bar File - New - ok. (pic 2)

Your image will look like this.
Now open your layer palette by Keeping your mouse on Layer
palette you can also press L key to view or hide layer palette.

Now layer palette will look like this.

Let's create new layer.
Click on create layer of your Layer palette to create new layer.
Now the dialog box will open up. Name it as Red instead of Layer1.
Now click ok. It will create new layer called red.

Now fill your image with red color with the help of flood fill tool. Your
image will look like this.

Now Keep your mouse on layer palette. Now you can see two
layers. One is called Background and other is called Red. Keep your mouse
on red and you'll see red image and keep your mouse on Background you'll
see white image.

Ok now let's create new layer. Repeat the same procedure.
Click on create layer name it as Green and click Ok.
Now your Layer palette has three layers and now Green layer
is selected.

Now click on your red image to select it.
Now Keep your mouse on Layer palette. It will open up.
Keep your mouse on green you'll find that it is empty (see pic).
Now we are going to fill this layer with green color. Make sure that green
layer is selected. Click on it to select it if it is not already selected.

Now click on your red image. Fill it with green color. Your
image will look like this.

Now look in the layer palette how your image looks like.
You can see that instead of empty image now it is green.
Repeat this process to create as many as layers.
Now save your image in psp format for your future use to
edit it or make changes in it.
If you save it in gif or jpg format your image will be of only one layer. So in future you cannot make any changes in this image.
Now How to merge all these layers?
Click on image to make sure image is selected. Now go to menu bar click
on Layers - Merge - Merge all flaten.

How to Delete layers or Edit?
If you want to delete any layer select the particualr
layer and right click to delete it. You can edit (make changes in) layers
in the same way.
