Beautiful Candle (psp 7 tutorial)

For this tutorial you will need the Paint Shop Pro 7 software. Download the trial version of psp 7 by follwing this link. Jasc's psp 7 or Jasc.com

You'll need following tubes and Gradients. Download these tubes by following these links.
Magnolia Tube
Sparkle Tube
Gradients Extract (unzip) Gradients in your psp's Gradient folder. It should be something like this: C:\program files\Jasc software inc\paint shop pro 7\Gradients

Store these tubes in your psp7. If you don't know how please follow this link to learn more about it Install Tubes.

OK now open a new image with these settings:
File - New - Keep these settings - click OK


Now go to layers menu and click on New Raster layer to create a new layer. A dialog box will pop open name it as circle or leave it as it is and click ok.

Now click on Selection tools . Select Circle with antialias checked in Tool Options.



With the help of selection tool make a circle leaving little room at sides.

Do not deselect. Now apply cutout by using these settings.


Add another new layer.
Go to the selections tool and choose rectangle.
In the middle area of your circle make a vertical rectangle as shown in pic.

Click on your color fill tool and choose linear gradient.
On the color palette choose your gradient color. I chose cream gradient. (you can use your default gradients too).
Fill in your rectangle shape.



Now buttonise it with these settings.



Ok now let's add some texture in our Candle.
Add a new layer.
Follow the numbers on picture.
1. Select Air Brush tool from verticle tool bar.
2. Set your forground color as #D8CAC0 or dark cream color.
3. Select texture Fruit Peel now click ok.
Change tool options setting as shown in pic.
Make sure that your candle is selected. Now paint it with the help of Air Brush tool.

Now your image will look like this


Now it's time to decorate the candle. Add your flower (Magnolia tube) and sparkle tube according to your taste and decorate it. Mine looks like this.



Now let's add a nice ring around the candle.
Add new layer.
Make a rectangle selection on candle with the help of rectangle selection tool.

Fill dark cream color in this rectangle.


Now buttonize it with these settings.
From menu Effects - 3D Effects - Buttonize.



It looks little dark. Let's make it light with the help of color adjustment option.
Go to menu bar click on Colors - Adjust - Brightness/Contrast.

A dialog box will pop up keep settings like this.



Now your image will look like this.

Add sparkle tube on this ring to show light reflection. Click on picture tube button on verticle tool bar. In tool options keep scale 40. And click on the ring.
Merge all the layers. Layers - merge - merge All (Flatten)

Now let's Make flame. Add new layer.
Make an elips with the help of selection tool and choose option elipse from tools options.


Now Select the gradient color to fill this elipse (flame). I chose this color.


Merge all layer.
Ok now your candle will look like this. You can add different colors too.

We'll animate it in next lesson.
