Advanced Tutorial

Pop-up Menu or Roll over Menu

For this tutorial you'll need Macromedia Fireworks 4 software. You may need to buy this software and install it in your system.

1. Open new file in Fireworks 4, File - New.
A dialog box will pop open keep settings as shown in pic and click ok.



Let's make button in this new image.
Select Rounded Rectangle tool from verticle tool bar.



Now Select the fill color to select the desired color which would be the button color. I chose grey color.

Now draw 3 button with the help of Rounded rectangle tool in new image which we've opened at the beginning. Or draw one button then copy it and paste it. Edit - copy - paste The new button will be pasted on the currect button you need to drag it with the help of subselection tool as shown in pic.



Now your button will look like this.



Now type desired text on each button. I typed Songs, Products and Email just for an example.

Now select the first button by clicking it and add Hotspot or Slice on it.
Insert - Hotspot
Repeat the same process with all 3 button or the buttons on which you want to add pop-up menu.



Now your image will look like this.


Now select the first button by clicking it.
Now click on top menu Insert - Pop up Menu
A dialog box will pop open. Now add text, url of the page and click on + to add it.
Add as many as items you want repeating the same procedure and click next.




Now new dialog box will open up. Make all the settings as shown in pic and click on Finish.

Note: Repeat the same procedure to add items in other buttons too.

Now your image will look like this. Keep your curser on blue-lined button a hand will appear now hold the mouse button and drag it near to the original button and position it.


Ok it's time to look into the browser to see how it looks like.
Click on File menu then Preview in Browser - Preview in iexplorer. exe



Place your mouse on Songs and your pop up menu will look like this. You can change cell-color, text-color and text-size according to your need.
