How to connect to Remote site?
How to Define Remote site (site of server) in Site window?
Ok now let's define our Remote Site in DreamWeaver
(DW). Where we've to store our html files and images so that it
could be viewed by web site.
Click on Site page where you've already defined your
local folder. For this open dreamweaver. Now click on site menu
of menu bar and click on site files.
(see below pic and follow the numbers given in this
pic)
Now double click on Site - tutorial (1)
New dialog box will open up.
Click on Remote info (2)
Now click on None box to chose new option (3)
Click on FTP
New dialog box will pop open.
Make sure that Remote info is selected (left side).
Now fill out the details and click ok.
Access - FTP
FTP Host - Your site url where you want to store
your data. (make sure to not to use http:// with your url)
Login - Login name which you've selected.
Password - Your password which you've selected.
click ok.

Now click on Site menu - click on Connect.

Now your Site window will look like this.

On the left side it has Remote site folders (folders on server)
and on right side it shows your local folders. You can see Download
(Get files) and Upload (Put files) button on top. It will help you
to Upload and Download files by clicking on these buttons.
How to connect to Remote site?
Each and every time when you'll open Dream Weaver
software you'll need to open the Site window as well. Repeat the
same procedure for it i.e. click on site menu then on site
files.
Now you'll see your Local folder in your Site window. But the remote
window will be blank. You'll need to connect it to your server to
do FTP (download and upload).
Click on View menu of your Site window, now click on Refresh
Remote.
Now you'll be able to download the files from remote.
Note: Whenever you want to edit the
existing file from server you must download it from server. It is
the safe way to edit the files so that you may not delete any existing
data.
